The Carrier Grade chat application is based on a hardware and software platform developed entirely by Basis Audionet in-house and used by telecommunications businesses around the world. The platform is primarily used to switch calls to and from different telco networks and their relevant back-end systems. Further applications include professional phone conferencing as well as chat.

The system is capable of multi-function operations, facilitating simultaneous chats or other applications on the same system. This functionality constitutes an important advantage if for example a raffle or a voting based event are to be run concurrent with a chat project.
